2015 Mavrud Maximinus Thrax Brestovitza 75cl

2015 Mavrud, Thracian Lowlands, Dry Red, Thracia, Ready , Drink now !  75cl, 13%abv

Made from a cult Indigenous grape variety planted since ancient times and yet only covering less than 1% of the vineyard area of Bulgaria.  Mavrud's home is thought to be the northern skirts of the Rhodopi Mountain south west of Plovdiv where the main vineyard block of Brestovitsa winery is situated. Known to produce fairly full bodied wines with tremendous longevity that boast with red berries and raspberries flavours when young. The variety has high natural acidity keeping in balance the abundant tannins. It responds well to oak and has spent about a year in French oak barrels (second filling). Open at least 30 mins before consumption and serve at about 16-18C. Ideal with red meat, game and strong matured cheeses
